Today New Balance has revealed its collaboration with iconic designer Paul Smith, which includes a men’s football boot, a men’s and a women’s trainer, and three footballs. The pack celebrates the New Balance 576 trainer’s 30th anniversary.
The football boot follows on from New Balance’s first MiUK One boot with a modern twist from Paul Smith. The boot is made using White K-leather and features the Paul Smith signature stripe on the insole, tongue and back heel, while keeping the classic New Balance ‘N’ logo and Made in the UK detail.
The MiUK One x Paul Smith football boot uses the latest in fabric technology with a Lightweight Super-Flex Nylon sole plate to deliver superior traction, comfort and durability. The Asymmetrical internal heel counter offers crucial protection for the achilles and the removable Fresh Foam cushioned footbed provides unsurpassed comfort.
The men’s Made in the UK 576 trainer is made from Black K-leather and features the iconic Paul Smith signature stripe in the trim and back detail. The women’s trainer follows a similar design to its counterpart but styles White K-leather and the Paul Smith signature stripe across the trim detail. Both trainers are dressed with a full premium leather upper and C-CAP compression-molded EVA midsole cushioning.
The trainers have been released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the New Balance 576 MiUK classic running shoe, one of the most popular trainer styles to be manufactured in New Balance’s Flimby factory in Cumbria. Only 1,008 pairs of the men’s trainer and football boot will be available to buy, alongside 504 pairs of the women’s shoe.
The collection also includes three hand-stitched, leather footballs. The footballs feature the signature stripe Paul Smith print all over and the innovative 18-panel configuration to help reduce drag. The collaboration footballs include a Leather Football, a Pro Destroy Football and a Furon Miniball.
“Collaborating with such an iconic fashion brand and working alongside the artisan designers at Paul Smith has been a pleasure. We’re proud to have manufactured athletic footwear in the UK for the past 35 years, and we remain one of the only global athletic brands to do so. Working with Paul and his team, a quintessentially British brand, has been a project we have really enjoyed and a great way to celebrate the anniversary of the 576 trainer and that big football tournament happening this summer.”
